Politics, whether local, national or international, is a hornets nest of
human behavior.  Some people thrive in the limelight, some people
do good works, and some just lose their moral center completely.

To some people's dismay, the 2008 election  has already started,
and with it the dirty pool that puts a sour taste in people's mouths.

While candidates shuffle for position, and have to raise insane
amounts of money to even be contenders, the attacks start.
These attacks are verbal slurs and accusations, real or imagined, or
manufactured, to make the other person look bad, so you get
elected.

All the Democratic candidates had to reach a certain level of
fund-raising success to be even in the game a couple months ago.
The caucuses in Iowa and other states are moving ever closer, and
the push to get those crucial first states is overwhelming.

January is a big month for these preliminaries, even though there
has been some talk of at least one moving to December 2007.
That is unprecedented, and bodes ill for those who tire of the
political ax wielding that occurs during these campaigns.

Then throughout the spring the positioning will shift one way and
the other, leading up to the Democratic and Republican
conventions in the summer - the Dems in Denver, and the Repubs
in S
t. Paul.

How does one become a delegate to a convention? You can
read this document on how to become a Democratic delegate in
Illinois, the
Illinois 2008 Delegate Selection Plan.

Take a peek into what goes into the melee that is a Presidential
election.  Who knows, maybe you want to get involved.
