News from the Southtown/Suntimes papers
Sometimes, you have to admit that a city's news is just plain awful.
And that's what we have since last week. Besides these news stories in the
Daily Southtown, there are transcripts of the tapes. One Markham man
stated to me after all this broke that "this makes us all look bad," and yes,
stories like this make men look bad. It makes Markham look bad. It makes
our mayor look bad. The City Council meeting this Wednesday will be VERY
interesting. Get there early - I predict standing room only.

A police and fire board commission chairman who seemed to suggest a
Markham police officer should have been fired long ago refused to recuse
himself from considering her fate at a dismissal hearing that lasted until 1
a.m. Friday.
